Because of His Mercy

Action

It is because of his mercy that you have been saved.

Titus 3:3-7 " At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, decieved and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures.  We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.  He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life."

It is because of his mercy that you have been saved.  A lot of the time our world likes to coin Christians as a group of good moral people.  When in reality, we are just as sinful as the rest.  We do not attain salvation because we accept Jesus then decide to act better and because we are acting good God loves us.  Nope.  When LOVE appeared he saved us because of his mercy not because of what we have or haven't done.  I like Paul's first line here. " At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, decieved and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures."  Yep that sounds a lot like me and maybe you to.  Our past is our past and God has washed that slate clean.  Let today be today.  Stop worrying about yesterday.  God has bigger plan for you today than to let guilt and shame wear you down.  Say today, " God I give you today.  Let me not be consumed by things that are not of you. Renew me and fill me with your Holy Spirit today!"  Let God renew you day after day.  May his Holy Spirit guide you and use you today.

Thoughts to ponder:

Why do we try to hold onto our past?

If you knew you were going to be executed tomorrow, what would your day look like today?

Time for Harvest

Harvest
Camp has come and gone and now we each find ourselves back at home, our mission field, the exact place that God is calling us to be. I firmly believe that God has you where you are at for a purpose above our wildest dreams. So often we get back home from camp and fall into a routine, a routine that steals our attention, passion, and worship. We begin to focus so much on the "things we do" that we lose focus on the mission God has us on. Our passions for work, sports, friends begins to overtake our wild passion for the Lord. Our worship turns into a boring routine.

Luke 10:2 "He told them, 'The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves..."

God has a harvest for you in your school, sports team, or community. God has equipped you and prepared you for the harvest he has been preparing back in your towns. GO!!!!! GO!!! Do what God is nudging you to do this week. You are being sent out like lambs among wolves. Yet, like we talked about at camp you have all power and authority in Christ to Overcome!

So what is holding you back?

How are you doing on your challenge you got at camp?

What can you do to help you focus your mind on our King Christ Jesus and not on the "things we do" each day?

Comment and encourage one another with how you are following God's nudges in your life!

God is the same yesterday, today, forever

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. -- Hebrews 13:8

This was a our memory verse for last summers camps.  What a more fitting verse. Sometimes I let earthly happenings of life dictate the way I see God.  When things are going good, God appears good.  When things are spinning around me like a mad twister, I see God in a much more distorted view.  In reality Jesus Christ is the same in the Saturday relaxed mornings as well as in those crazy days of finals with stress, studying, worries, fear, and doubt.  Our God is Love. Hallelujah!

I am excited for this summer at camp like none other.  We will greatly miss the fellowship of past mentors in our lives this summer but we will be even more greatly blessed by the plans the Lord has in store for us this summer.  Beaver Creek is the same beautiful sanctuary that God has placed you at in the years past.  And it will still be that same very special place for you this summer!  Our God will not change, he will continue to meet you in the most loving crazy ways of your life at camp this summer.  In my past I have grown even closer to God when my dependency on those around me is taken away.  When we realize it was God working through these servants in our lives to love and encourage us we can see the even greater love of that the father has for us.

I am STOKED for camp this summer and am super excited to be with all of you again at our most favorite place in the world with our most favorite person in the world......JESUS!!!  BOOM chakalaka its gonna be one big summer party with Jesus.  I hope you are getting pumped and are ready to spend a week away from this crazy world with some of your best friends and family as we take time to focus on our relationship with the creator of this world.
